Abstract

Taking the role of the use of costumes in Chinese ethnic minority films as a starting point, this paper discusses the relationship between ethnic minority costumes in films and costume culture and ethnic culture. For example, the costumes appearing in different ethnic minority films are closely related to the unique living environment, development history, and daily life of the ethnic group. At the same time, the ethnic costumes in these films reflect the religious, ecological, and humanistic cultures of the ethnic groups. When film creators process and use these costumes from an artistic point of view, they usually do so to portray characters, express the core emotions of the film, or highlight the thematic features of the story. These practice-based explorations will provide references and lessons for the future creation and innovation of Chinese ethnic minority films and the dissemination and development of Chinese ethnic minority costume culture. At the same time, as a mass media, the dissemination of ethnic minority culture in such a way can enhance the public's understanding of the cultural qualities and aesthetic connotations of Chinese ethnic minority costumes and help to strengthen the protection and inheritance of Chinese ethnic minority costume culture.
